Dalarna Wind Shelter is a wind shelter designed and built in the garden of a property that has a beautiful view and a strong prevailing wind. The idea was to create an ultra light structure that would protect sitting area from wind and rain. The wing shaped structure is inspired by wind shelters in Dalarna, Sweden. The wind is cut by the front edge with the majority flowing over the top of the structure. The remaining wind is filtered by a planting of tall grasses. Even on a very windy day, one can sit under the structure and not feel the wind. The supports for shelter are Y-shaped composite beams. The structure was designed to be incorporated into existing deck and fence.
